That, of course, is the biggest deal when it comes to a game like this. How can you plant the cash crops if you have no cash to begin with? As in real life, when it comes to your virtual farm, you have to know what your monetary limits are. For a while in the beginning, you will want to focus on purchasing items that will also give you a return. Yes, many of those decorations will give you experience points, but that won’t cover your next planting. The key here is making sure you’re planting crops that are going to give you a high rate of return and amassing that money.
Maximize Your Space
Sure, all those decorations and knick knacks will get you the Pack Rat ribbon faster than you can spit. But at the end of it all? They’re going to take up space without giving you any form of return. Make sure that you’re taking advantage of the space you have in every way possible. Planting your trees closer together, running crops right alongside each other – these are both good starting points for maximizing the space that you have in FarmVille. And in the beginning? It isn’t much. So you need to use it wisely. Selling off many of those decorations will also add to your coin total and make it that much easier for you to accumulate some wealth. And all this isn’t to say that you should avoid decorating at all. To the contrary, be creative in your design. But do so wisely and don’t give up crop space for a simple little decoration.
Diversify Your Assets
You heard me right. I said diversify your assets. There will be some crops that you will want to repeat over and over again. However, when looking at it from the point of view of a strategist, you want to keep your plantings diverse. Many crops have different lengths of time between planting and when they are ripe. As long as you are going to be able to be at the computer in time to harvest those crops, it makes sense to plant a variety of crops with a variety of harvest times. This way you’re continuously making money.
Plan Ahead
Speaking of harvest times, you want to remember to harvest your crops on time. Withered and dead crops will only cost you money, and as previously discussed – money is the key. When you’re planting, you may want to think about when the next time is that you will be at the computer. Try to plant your crops around that. Diversity is good, but efficiency is even better. And you can achieve both when you take some time to plan ahead.
A Forgetful Farmer is a Broke Farmer
While you may have every good intention in the world trying to plan ahead for your harvesting times, you may forget. Life gets crazy, things get busy, and harvesting your FarmVille crops may be the last thing on your mind for half the day. Luckily for you, there is an option to receive e-mail notifications when your harvest is due. Just in case you happen to forget, you’ll get an e-mail reminding you to go harvest your crops. This is a very handy little tool for the sometimes forgetful farmer.
